About Vince Dixon

I am a journalist and communications specialist. I use Web, print and digital media to deliver stories, ideas and information to mass audiences.

Specific arenas include:

  • News apps, interactive storytelling & data visualization
  • Print & multimedia journalism
  • Web producing & content management
  • Communications & public relations

I earned a master's degree from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University in 2013. I studied Interactive Publishing--that's journalism, but with an emphasis on producing it for the Web. This includes digital and multimedia reporting, content management, Web production, JavaScript storytelling, audience insight and more.

I am currently the data visualization reporter at Eater. I use code, libraries and storytelling tools to visualize data about food and the restaurant industry. Previously I was the news applications fellow at ProPublica. There I learned the ins and outs of the news apps development side of the news industry by collaborating with the ProPublica news apps department and reporters. Prior to the fellowship I worked as a content and homepage producer at the Chicago Tribune.

My goal is to join a news organization that values using new media and digital storytelling techniques to reach audiences. I am particularly interested in creating news applications and interactive stories, and helping build or grow innovative news endeavors.
